Corns are regions of the skin where keratin accumulates, this is due to the strong pressure on the affected area or the friction of it, causing pain when walking or even just by putting on footwear, this is because the most common areas where calluses form are the feet and hands, calluses can present two different types of nuclei, one hard (characteristic of the upper part of the feet) and the other soft (present between the fingers of the hands and feet).
The cause for which the appearance of corns is usually due to constant friction or strong pressure on certain regions of the body. Due to the strong pressure, the skin dies forming a hard tissue, which in this case is the callus, while soft calluses are formed in the same way as hard calluses, with the only difference being that sweatWhen it comes into constant contact with the affected region, the tissue tends to soften, generally the areas where this usually occurs is between the fingers and toes. Another very common cause is the frequent manipulation of an element that requires the use of pressure with the hands, an example of this is the use of the hammer, on the other hand, the feet are usually formed by the pressures caused by the use of footwear not suitable for the person or also because of their disuse.
The main characteristics of corns are dry and quite hard skin, it can turn a yellowish color, with little sensitivity if touched compared to other areas, however it can cause pain when wearing shoes, it may even prevent the feet fit into footwear.
These clumps of dead skin generally do not need any treatment, however if they cause pain they can be reduced by wearing shoes that are a bit wide, with a fairly deep toe, as this can prevent the toes from rubbing against each other. Others use special protection such as toe separators, pads and covers to avoid friction.
