Also known as the Poodle, it is a canine breed, known to be the favorite of the aristocratic and royal classes. At first, it was just a dog eradicated in the field, in charge of collecting the fish or birds that its owners hunted and fell into the water. It is a dog that is easily found in canine beauty contests, in addition to competitions, in which its agility and dexterity is demonstrated.
One of the most interesting data that can be found about the breed is that it is not known exactly where they come from, but there are theories that explain it could have migrated from Germany, arriving in France, then Spain, the United Kingdom and, finally, to the Netherlands.
It is highly appreciated for its beauty and intelligence, and those qualities were what attracted the attention of members of the French court, as well as the aristocratic class of Renaissance France. The dominant specimen, by then, was the large one; however, towards the first half of the 20th century, it was decided to spread the medium, dwarf and toy species. The estimated time of life for the medium and large, ranges from 11.5 to 12 years, the most common causes of death being cancer, old age and heart disease; miniatures and toys is 14 to 14.5 years old, the most common causes of death are old age and kidney failure. It should be noted that the toy variety, it can live up to 20 years if it is kept in a healthy condition.
Its fur protects it from hypothermia, so it must be given special care. According to different studies carried out, their reproduction is premature, since the female specimen is expected to have the first heat around the first 7 or 9 months of life.
