What is electric charge? »Its definition and meaning

Anonim

Electric Charge is that property of certain subatomic particles that occurs when they are related to each other, this interaction is electromagnetic and is done with the positive and negative charges of the particle. Any element considered matter has a set of charges, positive, negative and fractionated (Quarks), there is a movement of the particles that contains this element and generates an electromagnetic field that interacts with its environment, what surrounds it also has electromagnetism so the interaction between fields is constant.

Electric Charge is a unit of the International System of Units, it is defined as:

"The amount of charge that passes through the cross section of a given electrical conductor during the span of one second and when the electrical current is one ampere."

There are two types of electric charges, positive charges and negative charges, according to Coulomb's Law, it is established that like charges repel, different charges attract. Everything depends according to the statement of the physicist who wrote the law, on the envelope or by the body charged with electricity.

Through Coulomb's Law the value of the charges can be deduced, the formula is:

With this same formula we can calculate the force and value of two interacting charges (Q1 and Q2). The constant shown in the formula is equivalent according to the International System of Units to 9 x 10 raised to -9 NM squared between C squared.

N: Newton, M: Meters, C: Coulombs.
