The ovarian cycle (or menstrual cycle) is the process of maturation of the ovules, the ovules are the female reproductive cells secreted by glands called ovaries, which are loaded with half the number of normal chromosomes and can be fertilized by the sperm (male reproductive cell) having the union produces the formation of an egg or zygote that is implanted in the inner layer of the uterus called endometrium, over nine months to give the formation of a fetus.
The ovary cycle lasts approximately 28 days (although some women have 21 to 35 days), the clearest manifestation that the ovarian cycle is taking place is with the appearance of menstruation (monthly bleeding through the vaginal canal). Ovarian cycle count begins on the first day of bleeding and ends on the day before bleeding reappears.
The ovarian cycle occurs with this bleeding for a simple reason, monthly the ovary will secrete an ovule (this process is known as ovulation) this secretion occurs approximately 14 days before or days of menstruation in case an example is taken woman with a 28-day ovarian cycle; the expelled ovum descends through the fallopian tubes until it reaches the uterus being exposed to fertilization, if it is not fertilized the ovum will be expelled from the uterus along with the desquamation of the endometrium through the vaginal canalThis is descriptive menstruation, therefore it can be identified that a woman's fertile period is the day of ovulation that was mentioned above, as well as a risk margin of 3 to 5 days before and 1 to 2 days after ovulation.
