Long ago, the most common way to get on a blind date was for a friend to say that they knew someone perfect and that as a matchmaker they would organize a meeting. One of the latest attempts is a meta-study carried out at Northwestern University, in Illinois (USA). The researchers reviewed data from more than 400 previous analyzes, ranging from professional collection sites to sites where blind dates occur informally, such as social media or mobile chat apps. The results were, in principle, quite disappointing, since it seems that the vast majority of the meetings ended in resounding failure.
However, as Eli Finkel, coordinating psychologist of the work, commented, the isolated figure does not tell us anything about the effectiveness of this method. We can assume that the number of bad experiences is similar to that which occurs when one tries to flirt at a disco or flirt with a co -worker, the two most common forms of seduction until the internet burst.
There are some safety tips for setting up a blind date: one of the most important is to specify the plan in a public place where there are more people and to stay in the early afternoon. It is good to organize a first meeting in which the conversation is the most important, since the chat allows you to get to know each other better.
