It is a primitive instinct of the human being to relate to others; It is a quality inherited from distant ancestors, who hunted and shared in large groups. With the establishment of communities, opportunities grew, so technological development came much more quickly. Thus, these areas that were more advanced than others and that served as a stable economic center, began to be called "cities." Little by little, they became more and more important places, so that a large part of the population was attracted to them, eventually settling there. In our days, cities are characterized by the hustle and bustle of their inhabitants.
The satellite cities, likewise, are those communities that are similar to the main cities, but that offer a quality of services that are not so specialized to their population, that is, they have a certain amount of independence, giving the possibility of acquiring basic goods and services, although, in the same way, the people who reside there must go to the largest cities to obtain a much wider range, in relation to this aspect. When these only fulfill the objective of acting as centers of residence, they can be called “dormitory cities”.
Its name corresponds to the theory developed in the 1930s by the German geographer Walter Cristaller, in which it is explained that, according to the geographical area occupied by a certain population nucleus, its functions and importance can be determined. This was related to the law of universal gravitation, which is responsible for specifying and explaining the location of the planets and satellites, thus being born " satellite city ".
