This was a pre-Hellenic civilization that was present during the late Bronze Age. Its discovery was thanks to the explorations carried out by the archaeologist Heinrich Schliemann, who carried out excavations at an archaeological site, located on the Peloponnese peninsula called Mycenae. This civilization was also known as Creto-Mycenaean.
There is not much data on this civilization, since there are only some archaeological remains that provide an idea of what the Mycenaean culture was like. A tablet was found, which when translated it was possible to know that the Mycenaeans were actually Greeks. However, it is still unknown if there is any written record of the exact name of this civilization.
Since there is no direct record of what the political organization of this civilization was like, the data provided are not entirely accurate. Greece is believed to have been divided by several states. The work of the Iliad shows the existence of three states: Pylos, Mycenae and Orcomeno that were identified during the excavations, however it is believed that Ithaca or Sparta was also present (this has not yet been corroborated by archeology).
It is believed that Mycenaean society was divided into two classes: those who were around the king, who ran the palace and the people. There were also the wealthy high officials who lived in large houses near the palace. Finally there was the lower class where the slaves were located. Of these there are not many details, only few testimonies are had about his work inside the palace.
Regarding the economy, it is estimated that there was a group that worked in the palace spaces, while there were others who worked on their own. The scribes were those who controlled the economy, since they supervised the entry and exit of merchandise, distributed the jobs and were responsible for distributing the rations.
The religious aspect is very little what is known about it, since being archaeological sites, it is not possible to identify exactly any cult site, the texts only show a list of names of gods, but they do not speak anything about the religious rituals.
