The term collaborationism comes to us from the French "collaborationniste". The colaboracionismo refers to everything related to help, participate, encourage or contribute to the enemy. It can also be described as the political tendency that defends a political or social regime that the majority of citizens reject, especially if it is a regime of occupation by the Nazis in Europe or the Japanese in Asia, who were forced to take part. by one side or the other.
This trend is considered to be a betrayal of the fatherland because in a more specific way it refers to the entire cooperation of a particular government, and of the citizens of a given country with regard to a determined enemy force. and it should be noted that the opposite of collaborationism is called "resistance movements."
Years ago, the people who supported the invaders received the name of collaborators, people who for their part were also considered as traitors to the homeland, as mentioned above; by the time the opposition census and the occupiers withdrew, they were subjected to marginalization, reprisals and sometimes even death itself.
A particular case about this was that of the French Marshal Pétain, when France was invaded by German troops, he led the destinies of the Vichy Republic, which was an authoritarian regime that collaborated with the Nazis until 1944 when the country was liberated.
Something similar happened in Norway when Pétain signed in June 1940, he took over a government under Hitler's orders, after leading a coup and for this reason France was divided into two territories, which are the area occupied by the Nazis and that of Vichy France.
