Anonim

Confidentiality is the feature or quality of those events, facts or actions that are confidential, secret or subject to a process of discretion on the part of those involved. When it comes to information, confidentiality is the property that these documents have, which makes them accessible only to certain people, who are usually referred to as “authorized personnel”. This practice, considered one of the cornerstones of information security has been defined by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in standard ISO / IEC 27002, under the provisions above.

The word confidentiality is composed of a series of affixes that, determining its meaning, implies that it is a quality or virtue. This is composed from the verb "to trust", which comes from the Latin word "confidere", which is related to trust and loyalty. This concept, within its current meaning, ranges from the necessary security in the computer field, to the ethical requirements of medicine and psychology. Therefore, various methods have been created, according to the needs raised in each field, in addition to those corresponding to the people involved.

In computer security, confidentiality focuses on the protection of personal information owned by a user who is exchanging information with other users, against third parties. The system that constitutes the internet is known to be insecure, which is why more security filters are implemented every day to prevent the consumer from being a victim of cybercrime.
