Consecration is the public demonstration of a person or thing at the service of some religious cult or some deity to whom one is a believer through some ritual or ceremony. Consecration is also said to the part of the Catholic Mass where the priest or spiritual leader refers to some words of the institution where they resemble unleavened bread as the body of Christ and wine as his blood, representing the sacrifice that did for humanity.
Catholic believers call it "the essence of our faith" since in this way the first commandment is translated where it specifies: "you will love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your strength." The act of consecrating is simply the offering of one's body and soul to God as the only deity, accepting their salvation and offering service as a faithful devotee. Some versions translate the word consecrate with a passage in the Old Testament where it says that its direct meaning is to receive the service of the saint or the Holy Spiritand offer yourself to the ministry of God. For the faithful and believers, this act is an honor and not a sacrifice as some see it since they thus perceive the glory of God in fullness.
The word consecrate, also expresses both consecrating oneself and the action of consecrating, in the case of God, it is to take complete possession, invade and penetrate with holiness, interior renewal and directly unite that someone with his son Jesus Christ. It is important to remember that consecration is in the theological sense, it is a strictly personal relationship between God and the believer, which means that it is only applicable to a person who exercises it with total freedom and autonomy. According to the believers, once this symbolic ritual is finished, the person relates directly and immediately with his God without intermediaries or third parties.
Why consecrate yourself? It is a very frequent question, according to Christians this rite is part of earthly liberation that symbolizes a worldly death, leaving all its earthly possessions and ancient beliefs to be. According to the words of many faithful, consecration is not obligatory as some think, but a call from God which not everyone has the benefit of receiving, without having previously sought salvation.
