What is cosmology? »Its definition and meaning

Cosmology, a word from the Greek "Kosmo" which means order and "loguia" and refers to the science of the universe. The cosmology is based on the study of the physical properties of the universe from its origin, shape, size and everything that composes. This term has been the object of study in the oldest civilizations; where man began to observe certain patterns of movements in the stars, this allowed the individual to be able to predict the movement of the moon, the stars, the sun and even predict eclipses.

In physical cosmology it refers to the study of evolution and fate of the universe, as well as the development of theories of relativity, gravitation of Albert Einstein and the theory of the Big Bang, which have contributed to the development of cosmology in a technological and structural aspect.

On the other hand, cosmochemistry, as its name indicates, is in charge of studying all the chemical components that occur naturally in space. This represents a very important aspect within planetology, because it is responsible for studying the composition of meteorites, interstellar dust, asteroid and comets.

Finally we have quantum cosmology, which is a very young field and tries to study the effect of quantum mechanics, after the Big Bang, in other words this type of cosmology tries to study the first moments of the universe. Despite all the progress, it still remains a somewhat speculative topic due to unproven quantum gravity.
