In the field of literature, the chronicle represents a literary genre that is based on the true facts related to history. The events that are related in the chronicles are presented chronologically, in such a way that the reader can know the origin of certain events and the end of them. That is, the chronicle narrates an event that occurred at a specific time, describing how it happened, from the beginning to the end.
Chronicles are generally written by people who have witnessed events or by contemporaries who have recorded every detail they have seen. To write a chronicle it is necessary to use a simple, direct language, giving it a personal touch and adopting a literary language, with repetitive use of adjectives, with greater emphasis on descriptions. Through the chronicles, writings can be elaborated, taking into account the points of view of different people, to know if in reality the facts are true or not; as can be seen in the book by the great writer Gabriel García Márquez: "Chronicle of an announced death."
The chronicle then represents the testimony of an author in reference to a reality that belongs to its social and historical context. The chronicler collaborates by providing neutral and objective information about the subject he describes and at the same time shows creative and literary elements. It is for this reason that this genre is characterized by being, on the one hand, a literary text and on the other, as a historical writing that represents a particular time.
There are different types of chronic:
Journalistic chronicles: this type of text is characterized by narrating in a specific and orderly way, certain events, with its own style, in such a way that it is possible to capture the attention of a wide public, interested in finding complete information about the event narrated.
Police chronicles: these types of chronicles relate every detail of events related to criminal acts and of the police actions within these events.
Political Chronicles: they are characterized by describing every detail of some important event that occurred within the political environment.
Social Chronicles: they tell sequentially how a particular social event originated.
