The word cryptography comes from the Greek "cryptos" which means "hidden" and "grafe" of writing that literally alludes to the "hidden writing". The Cryptography is the science that protects documents and information that acts through the use of numbers or codes to write something secret documents and data that applies to information circulating in local networks or the Internet. The Romans used codes to keep their ideas and war projects from those who did not know it and they did so with the purpose that the entities that knew the meaning of the code they interpret the hidden message.
These methods are used in art, which is any activity or product made with an aesthetic or communicative purpose, in science it is the knowledge obtained through the observation of regular patterns of reasoning and experimentation in the specific field.
In the area of computer science it is the science that studies the methods, processes, techniques, with the term of saving, processing and transmitting the information of the data in digital format, in the part of the massive use of digital communications that have produced a progressive number of security problems. The exchanges that are made through the network can be interpreted by the security of this information that must be ensured.
This challenge extends the elements of cryptography to be the part of cryptology that was entrusted to the study of algorithms and protocols that are called cryptographic protocols, which is an abstract or concrete protocol that performs functions related to security, applying the systems cryptographic and methods that are used to protect information and provide security to communications and the entities that communicate.
