Crustacean is a term that derives from the Latin "crusta" whose translation is crust or bark and is used in the field of Zoology to describe the animal species that is composed of arthropods, which are generally covered with a shell and whose breathing is usually carried out is bronchial. These animals are oviparous, invertebrate, and have a minimum of five pairs of legs, articulated like their body, they also have two pairs of antennae, which are inserted in the second and third metamer. With respect to the fourth segment, it presents a pair of jaws. There are those who call them as insects of the sea, however it is possible to find them in fresh water bodies.
These animals constitute a subphylum of arthropods. In total there are more than 67,000 species of crustaceans, among the most popular are crabs, shrimp, lobsters and prawns. In addition, it should be noted that the highest percentage of crustaceans are of the aquatic type, being able to inhabit fresh and salt water and in all the depths of the planet.
All living beings that belong to this edge share certain characteristics anatomically speaking, however with respect to their size it is very variable. For its part, the body is composed of various segments or metamers that are generally part of three body regions and are: the cephalon or head, the pereion or the thorax and the lion that would be the abdomen. The initial segments of the thorax can join the head giving way to the region known as the cephalothorax.
Crustaceans usually represent a fishery resource and food of great value for many people to level global. An example of this are lobsters, which are widely consumed around the world. These animals are usually eaten after they are cooked, their heads, cuirass, fins and entrails removed. Another product of this type that is widely used is shrimp, whose use is more varied since it is used practically for any food that you can think of, whether in rice, cocktails, battered, fried, roasted, etc.
