Degradation is a term that refers to the situation in which an individual or important object has its power, capacity, ability, etc. reduced by the action of a certain entity. It has several meanings, so it is slightly modified around each area, but its essence remains. Some define it as a change, which transforms the object or person into something imperfect, simple; however, it is used much more when it comes to job, emotional or physical degradation. Degradation is the word used to describe all the biological changes that occur in the soil or the decomposition of the remains of animals, plants or some object made by humans.
When talking about moral or physical degradation, there is a special focus on human virtues of all kinds, in addition to the damage that can be caused to a being; for example, pornography is considered degrading material for the female sex, while the beating of a man can be seen, depending on the motives, as degrading. Likewise, there is talk of this job degradation, which occurs mainly in military and ecclesiastical institutions, in which, for a serious crime committed, the rank of importance of the person involved is degraded, with the purpose of achieving some shame.
Regarding the biological field, degradation can refer to the physical changes that occur in soils, as well as, as mentioned above, the transformation of the remains of animals or plants in it, into another type of material. In art, specifically in painting, it is about reducing the size of the figures within a painting.
