What is waste? »Its definition and meaning

Anonim

In general terms, the word waste, represents all those objects, substances or materials that are left over or remain from something that has been worked on, processed or consumed and that no longer has any type of use, that is, it is useless and therefore needs To be removed.

Waste is commonly used as a synonym for the word waste, but it turns out that both terms do not have the same meaning and to better understand what waste represents, it is necessary to locate the difference between the two. Thus, waste is those remains of something, which no longer have any use. Waste for its part, are those remains that do not have any economic value for their owner, but if they have a commercial value, they can already be granted a new life cycle, through recovery or recycling.

Consequently, they do not represent the same thing, even when both groups represent those things that are inserted into a conglomerate known as garbage, which is taken to landfills to be disposed of; because one is thrown away in the knowledge that it can be recovered, while the other is thrown away precisely because its life cycle ended.

All living things produce waste, which are called organic, which have their biological origin, ie that are linked to the living being, as is the case with the leaves falling from the trees, shells egg, shells of fruits, branches, among others. However, the human being is the main producer of waste in the world, because in addition to producing their own organic waste, their creations, that is, those products from companies and industries, which in turn are made by humans, become and generate waste.

On the other hand, there are also inorganic and toxic wastes, which are those produced by industries and companies (paints, syringes, among others) and those that are harmful to health (insecticides, poisons, among others), respectively.

Waste is also classified according to the physical state in which it is generated. Thus, these can be solid, liquid or gaseous.
