This word comes from the Latin "dignitas, and esta de dignus" which means worthy, worthy, personal value or merit. Dignity is a feeling of self-worth, the human being in his performance must be free and respected, especially for himself, which gives him the power of autonomy over his capacities and actions, based on the fact that men are beings rational. Acting correctly under the moral values and legal precepts imposed by society causes in the human beinga reaction where you feel valuable, worthy of respect and admiration, you may even feel that you can be a role model.
Which leads us to say that dignity is that value corresponding to the merit of someone or something that people can develop through their way of acting, their conduct or their behavior. The dignity is the quality of being worthy, is worthy of something, that something can be an object, a feeling a thought, etc. For example, "she is worthy of respect, since she has always acted under the norms of the community."
The dignity has to do with the decorum or recognition towards the people act either with others or with himself. Human dignity is a right of each human being, the right to be individualized and respected with each of its particularities and conditions, just because you are a person, because you should not offend or attack another person.
