The term deluge refers to a constant precipitation and in large quantities, which generates large floods and consequently a very important economic damage, this type of meteorological phenomenon can sometimes also present hail rain, which increases its danger even more. Despite this, if the flood is short-lived, it could be of great help, especially in those places where the drought is imposing and does not allow the development of agriculture.
On the other hand it is also known as a universal flood, a biblically recorded event which took place thousands of years ago, where God caused by man decided to punish the world by flooding, giving way to torrential and endless rains that with the passage of the days the water would end up covering a large part of the planet. According to the believers in this story, the main objective that God had with this punishment was to eradicate all living beings that inhabited it, however God's mercy was such that it allowed Noah, one of his most faithful followers, to build a ark, where he had to take refuge with his family and also had to give refuge to a couple of each species of animal and in theland. It is said that the flood lasted a little more than 40 days, fulfilling its objective, which was to end life on earth except for the inhabitants of the ark. After that God decided to make a pact with man where he promised not to flood the earth again, it is believed that the symbol of this pact is the rainbow.
Despite the fact that at present a flood of such magnitude is very unlikely, this possibility is not ignored, especially with the climatic changes that are occurring. What is possible is that there are rains of great magnitude, but never comparable with what was the universal flood since the amounts of water are not comparable with each other.
Another frequent use that is given to the concept of flood, is in common language, which starts from its original meaning and is applied when you want to show that something has great abundance.
