The word dossier in Gallicism, that is, a term from the French language that is used in other languages, especially Spanish. This refers to the file or series of documents, which are responsible for detailing certain aspects about a person, group, institution, project, among others. In other uses of the word, it is found to be the back of a seat; the one on which the back rests. Dossier, then, can be seen as a kind of synonym for both the word archive and backup. In these senses, the first of these is used in a multitude of fields, among which computing stands out. Within the operating systems, as part of the growing need for users to have a much simpler and easier-to-access organization, so-called directories were incorporated, virtual folders in which all types of files could be stored. Another approach to the term is one in which the files are converted into files, a kind of history for the entity or person who is being investigated.

The dossier as a back or rear area of a seat or chair, is a little used meaning in Spanish. However, these involve a number of characteristics in which the beauty of the object can be focused almost completely. The backrests can have a variety of shapes, such as curved, wraparound, straight or even convertible, accompanied by a series of details that add more aesthetics to the appearance.
