What is fair? »Its definition and meaning

Anonim

The Latin aequanĭmis, equanimous is an adjective that allows you to name the one who has equanimity. This term, on the other hand, refers to the impartiality of the judgment and the equality and constancy of the mind.

The word equanimous is used as a qualified adjective to designate those people who are balanced and who maintain an intermediate position between two poles, who do not understand the differences as exclusive, but who always manage trying to find positive things on both sides, to form a balanced union or combination between them. It can also be said that something or a phenomenon is equanimous as long as this idea that seeks balance and harmony is respected.

An equanimous person is characterized by maintaining serenity in the face of the various reactions that can occur in various moments of his life, that is, he presents a stable character both for adversity and for happy moments. The person must still develop or present other characteristics such as tolerance, patience, understanding, serenity, among others, in order to achieve this characteristic.

However, equanimity is a positive trait of the human being and, consequently, of his serenity, inner peace and balance, the human being has a better understanding and vision of all the situations that arise in the course of his life, since in this way you can provide the best form of conflict resolution.

The term fair can be used as a synonym for impartiality, equitable, neutral, reasonable, fundamental characteristics that the person who administers justice, known as a judge, must present to prudently weigh and deliver a fair and impartial trial. Equity is the disposition to recognize the right to equality of each party and to distribute objective justice, that is, to give each one theirs.

At present, there are various physical and mental disciplines such as philosophies that help humans to achieve equanimity, for example: yoga, Buddhism, etc., since it is very difficult today to possess this characteristic because human beings live in constant stress produced by the economic and social problems that the world lives, the hectic days that the human being lives, among the worries or problems that the individual can live.

All this without also forgetting that anyone who is fair will have the ability not to recklessly judge anyone, that they will have a freedom that will bring them new situations and will also avoid being controlled by something or someone.

Law, on the other hand, constitutes the normative order that regulates the behavior of human beings in society and that is based on what is in accordance with the rules. The law appeals to equanimity and justice to resolve social conflicts.

A fair judge is one who punishes the guilty to repair the damage they caused to a victim while absolved the innocent. These types of failures allow us to affirm that "justice was served" in the case (that is, justice was enforced by law).

An impartial journalist, for example, is the communicator who, when writing an article or producing a report, consults with different sources and turns his work into different opinions. In this way, fairness is guaranteed by including divergent points of view, since the information does not focus on a single version of the facts in question.
