The term ephemeris comes from the Greek "ἐφήμερος" which means "daily" and from the Latin "ephemeris" which means "calendar" or "narration of each day". The word anniversary refers to an outstanding event that occurs on a particular date of the year and is celebrated every year. In other words, it is that important event indicated on a calendar, which happened in the past and is still celebrated to date, and the commemoration of said anniversary is also known as an anniversary. They can be facts or events such as the birth or death of a national hero, or of any political, cultural or scientific figure, an event can also be the triumph of a battle among others.
On the other hand, in the astrological and astronomical field, an ephemeris is a table of values that shows the positions of astronomical objects in the sky at certain times. this position is symbolized, for astronomy, in the form of spherical polar coordinates, and for astrology in longitude. These ephemeris are aware of the different astronomical phenomena to occur such as the phases of the moon, eclipses, seasons in planetary movements, sidereal time among many other phenomena of great importance. Astrological ephemeris are used by astrologers, and these can be similar to astronomical ones or they could also be based on constellations, which are called geocentric ephemeris, used in Western astrology for the construction of the astral chart. And we can also find the heliocentric ephemeris, which are those that are based on the constellations that can be seen from the sun.. Finally, the word is also attributed to one of the first applications of mechanical computers, which is worth noting that it is still applied to a printed table.
