In law, the crime of concealment is subject to controversy and debate, in the case of parents who do not report their children for a crime, since it is more of a moral dilemma than concealment, but when assessing the accusation it is done difficult to determine if it is illegal or not. Legally, the cover-up would also affect parents, but legally there is an open debate about what penalties should be applied to direct relatives who cover up their relatives, since in the case of parents they are obliged to protect their children.
