Sterility is the expression that is used medically to talk about infertility in women and their inability to maintain a pregnancy to term and to have a baby alive. The inability to procreate can be caused by a malfunction in the sexual organs of the couple or by having incomplete gametes. Infertility points to the inability to conceive, it is believed that a person has infertility or sterility problems because they have not been able to have a child after having sex without any protection of condoms, contraceptive pills, among others, this with the aim of conceiving.

So we understand as reproductivity, the ability of every living being to reproduce and infertility, on the contrary, it does not have this ability to procreate children. A couple is diagnosed as sterile, if after a period of about two years having intimate relationships without protection and without a justifying cause such as quarantine or breastfeeding, they do not obtain a successful pregnancy.

There are two kinds of infertility after having more than a year trying to find a pregnancy these are: primary infertility is when the couple could not achieve a natural pregnancy at all, and secondary infertility is that after having a first child, fails to obtain another pregnancy after a year or more of searching.

Sterility in man can be caused by several elements:

Pretesticulate: changes in the hormones LH and FSH, which are what stimulate the testicles.

Testicular: damage to the testicles caused by genetic, congenital, or birth problems.

Poststicular: A condition caused by benign tumors or cancer affecting the sperm.

Tuboperitoneal: Transformations in the tubes or in the area of the ovarian duct.

For couples with this problem, there are artificial methods or treatments that can allow you to get pregnant, such as artificial insemination, which involves introducing sperm directly into the woman's uterus.

We also have the intrafallopian transmission of gametes, this is a procedure where several unfertilized eggs are taken and then implanted directly with the sperm through laparoscopy.
