An expression is the representation or materialization of an idea, through the use of resources such as speech, writing or body language. It is one of the main cognitive mechanisms that allow communication between most of the living beings that inhabit the earth; each organism has its own method of informing another of its own species its status, even if it is only a primitive instinct for protection or socialization. Similarly, the term "expression" is usually used as a synonym for a word or phrase with cultural characteristics.
In the artistic field, the expression is involved with the set of elements present in a work, be it a musical composition, a writing, a painting or a sculpture; their role is to make the scene represented within the piece be perceived in a certain way. When it comes to acting or dancing, the individual in charge of performing maintains significant control over all their limbs and tries to recreate certain gestures that suggest emotions consistent with the role on stage, however, this is called body expression, because the body is the instrument that transmits the information.
The algebraic expressions, meanwhile, are a set of numbers and letters used in various areas of mathematics, physics and chemistry, to represent a magnitude that depends on them, solving this, in turn, with magnitudes that were already known or those that were unknown. The phrase "reduce to the minimum expression", also known in the aforementioned fields, talks about reducing the value of a figure through certain operations arranged for it.
