FoxPro is a database management system that was designed by a small company called Fox software, so that after its success it would be absorbed by Microsoft. Basically it is a programming language or storage program, which is capable of processing large amounts of data and saving it in a secure base. The program has the virtue of being able to serve as an administrator of this data, being able to classify it, move it, even eliminate it from the system. FoxPro is a Data and File Management System compatible with the different Operating Systems on the market.
With FoxPro, databases were treated by program developers and designers as a complete object, easy to handle, with attributes that make it a key part of system development. The data that were in these databases could be anything, images, videos, multimedia in general, documents, contacts, among others.
The advantages of FoxPro were observed more than everything in its complex storage system, when it was created, there were no personal computers with a Hard Disk, everything was handled through floppy disks and FoxPro considerably suppressed data through its data management mechanism.. The creation of libraries with different extensions was what made the system so popular. Since 1989, different versions of FoxPro begin to appear, running from MS-DOS accepting DBASE IV programming languages. Later, it would become a compiler of data in source code. In 1991, it allows the visualization of files of the SQL type and the race for the compatibility of more types of files begins, a year later, Microsoft buys the system for 2.5 million dollars.
The highlight after the acquisition of FoxPro by Microsoft was the appearance of a graphical interface that allowed users to more easily manipulate their databases, progressively, support for languages other than English was added and in August 1994 It is renamed Visual FoxPro, already working as it is today, a properly ordered programming of procedures for its operation on various object-oriented platforms.
