Any center that provides education or teaching, a teaching center, a teaching institution, an educational institution, or a participation center, is generally known generically as a school; although it generally refers specifically to elementary schools. Like the family and the environment, which are the first contexts where the human being is born and develops, school after home is usually the fundamental pillar that will take place in the life of a subject. This institution of classical and free format is necessary to promote the full development of students or students in front of society. Among the functions of the school are to help develop adults capable of facing life problems alone.

School is the place where theories and the environment materialize and where people can learn different areas of knowledge. It is important to ask about scientific questions, social problems and practical questions, among others, to know and learn from them.

Within the social functions of the school, we can highlight the following:

  • Form consciences.
  • Custody: this was one of the goals the school had when it emerged. The school welcomes children when their parents cannot take care of them, usually in the morning, which is when the parents are at their respective jobs. If this institution did not exist, the children would be alone during those hours, they would be unattended and unsupervised.
  • Cultural reproduction: in school values, culture, a way of seeing life, ideological and political character are taught, which also appears in the curriculum (the contents of the curriculum and textbooks etc. appear according to a certain policy social ideology,). That is why we can say that education is a political, cultural and social problem.

The State must guarantee the integrity of a good educational formation. To do this, it must properly perform its function of inspecting, supervising and governing within the framework of good legislation, for the creation of mandatory compliance standards; good execution, to put into practice the legal standards that the institution has; and justice in the application of sanctions to those who do not comply with the legal norms.

On the other hand, the needs of each of the teachers should not be overlooked, since they should always have all the resources and knowledge necessary for the teaching-learning process. Also, they should help to provide a good climate in the classrooms and always motivate the students.
