A Glossary is a list of words usually located at the back of a book, this list of words are generally not entirely understandable to the public who reads them. A glossary is a compendium of native words of a region or technical specialists of a specialty, broken down with their meaning in a clear and concise way, the reason why they are made is because the content of the book does not cover all the angles from which can be interpreted. A glossary can also contain extra texts by the author himself, explaining in his own words what he means in some part of the book that may not be well understood.
Glossaries are extensions of the vocabulary used in editing the text, their application promotes the correct explanation of the subject matter, it is important for a writer that each context is visible in the texts that use a glossary to complement the information. Explanatory texts such as encyclopedias require a complex glossary of terms that emphasizes technical words that readers understand what the writing is about. The glossary is a tool for the reader, despite the fact that history has always placed it at the back of the net content of the book, the didactics and the new teaching strategies typical of the current times have modernized this tool in order to make it more practical.
In the encyclopedias destined to the formation of students of diversified cycles and basic schools, small spaces can be observed between the text and the images in which small concepts and definitions regarding the information of the viewed page are defined. Of course, these little types can contain additional supplementary information that helps the user of the book to have clearer ideas about the research that he is doing.
Glossaries are generally ordered alphabetically, however there are compendiums of words that can be ordered by themes or colors, according to the classification previously obtained by the author of the text, the book's supplements will be shaped (index, introduction, conclusion, epilogues, glossaries, among others)
