The signs of gonorrhea usually appear between the second and the fifth day after the infection, but there are cases especially in men where they manifest up to a month later, they may not even present symptoms and therefore become unknown who suffer from such a pathology, which prevents it from being treated and consequently increases the chances that they will transmit the disease to other people and their condition will be complicated.

Symptoms can vary in both men and women. In men there are pain and burning when urinating, the testicles become swollen and very sensitive, the urethra turns reddish, the penis secretes a yellow or green substance, the urinary frequency increases and can reach have a sore throat. In women the symptoms are less intense, therefore they can be confused with another condition, they have burning and pain when urinating, during intercourse they may feel severe pain, they also have a sore throat and in the lower abdomen, fever is another frequent symptom.

Some of the treatments to eradicate this infection is through small doses of oral antibiotics for a week or failing that, a single dose of a higher grade. Antibiotics can be administered through injections and after that a lower dose is prescribed in pills for a certain time, in the most extreme cases hospitalization may be required, administering the drugs intravenously.

The best treatment is undoubtedly prevention, that is why special care must be taken when having sex with multiple people, sex must be practiced safely, with the use of condoms and through a medical examination to rule out infection.
