Anonim

A type of inflammation that occurs in some tissue of our body is known as granuloma. In general, this is presented by a reaction of some immune cells with the purpose of trying to protect or isolate the body from certain problems, such as an infection. For this reason, it could be said that cells act as a kind of defense mechanism that the human body has to give warning about the presence of agents that are harmful to the body.

Granulomas are one of the conditions that affect a large number of people around the world, including children, adults and young people, having a higher incidence in women, according to studies. These generally occur on the hands, forearms and feet in most cases, however, the possibility of spreading other parts of the body is not ruled out.

Regarding the symptoms, one of the most frequent symptoms that granuloma causes is precisely the appearance of an inflammation that presents a reddish hue and a slight itching in this area. In general, there are no additional symptoms to those already mentioned.

Those people who are in the presence of this type of manifestation on the skin, it is best to turn to a skin doctor, that is, a dermatologist, so that he can study the case and, if necessary, indicate any diagnostic practice that confirms the granuloma picture.

What is usually done more regularly is a scraping in the area, which is subsequently sent to be analyzed, or, failing that, a potassium hydroxide measurement is carried out, in order to establish if there is a granuloma or infection. caused by the action of a fungus, which is a condition with which granuloma is often confused.

On the other hand, it should be noted that there are different types of granulomas and each of them have in common the possibility of causing necrosis, in other words, the death of cells in a tissue. This fact is considered extremely dangerous, since necrosis cannot be reversed.
