Halloween is the name given in the countries of the American continent to a pagan holiday inherited by European immigrants in the 19th century. This festival, rejected by many cultures, Halloween centers its celebrations between October 31 and November 2, dates in which they celebrate two festivals of greater antiquity and more ethnic importance for its inhabitants, such as the " Samhain " a “ Celtic ” celebration carried out in the past with great form in Europe in which their ancestors were praised and paid tribute in pagan rituals and rejected by the Catholic Church, and the Day of the Dead, or Day of the Dead Saints, a holiday in which homage is paid to those who are no longer there, this celebration has its strong focus of belief in Central American countries and more in Mexico, in this country, families have the custom of “Taking out for a walk” the bodies of deceased relatives through the streets, wrapped in flowers and in a procession, accompanied by songs and traditional games with large masks and fireworks.

Halloween is associated with terror, which is scary and therefore with science fiction characters or characters inspired by real events who committed a murder or massacre, who are famous for the peculiar way of committing their crime. Halloween is celebrated more in the United States than other countries in America, in this country they see it as a tradition where children are given great participation, who dress up and ask for sweets from house to house with the popular phrase " Sweet or Trick “.

But today, Halloween has a commercial importance as influential as carnival or Christmas, definitely the essence of the pagan festival has been lost, the worship of profane characters and of diabolical meaning in satanic sects was stopped, even if, but on a smaller scale and in a secret way, since society does not accept these anti-social behaviors for common life.

The best known characters today that people disguise are: Dracula, Frankenstein, witches or wizards, serial killers, zombies, mummies, among others. Also Halloween parties are decorated with pumpkins with faces, bats, cobwebs, dark fabrics, things typical of horror movies.
