Anonim

The hypothalamus is an important region of our brain that coordinates fundamental aspects of the body such as emotions, body temperature, part of the sphincters, hunger, thirst, among others. The hypothalamus's main function is to regulate those characteristics of the body that are not controlled at will, on the contrary, they are those that we feel by nature, by logic or by instinct. For example, if a person does not drink water, the body becomes dehydrated, the hypothalamus sends Thirst signals to alert that fluid must be ingested to keep the body healthy.

The hypothalamus is located below the thalamus, forming a small part of the Diencephalon, constituting together with the other parts that accompany it as the secreted center of hormones of the brain. The importance of the Hypothalamus falls on the way it handles the control of our (Non-motor) but essential functions of the body. Emotions are one of the most curious responsibilities of the Hypothalamus, since connected with the brain stem, it radiates feelings and emotional gestures through the segregation of peptides and amino acids which in its nucleus form neurohormones that make the human body feel Love, sadness, anger, shyness, euphoria, happiness, tranquility and all the others.

The Hypothalamus also plays a role of notable consideration, we are talking about the close relationship it has with the Hypophysis or pituitary gland which secretes hormones negatively but jointly with the Hypothalamus to keep the body stable, the hypophysis secretes those hormones that promote the creation and development of the muscular and bone tissues of the body, as well as it is an aid to the development of human adolescence. A clear example of the relationship between the Hypothalamus and the Pituitary is that prolactin secretion is negatively regulated by dopamine, a neurotransmitter. That is, if a woman is not pregnant, she does not have to secrete prolactin, which is responsible for producing breast milk to feed a newborn, for this, Dopamine is secreted from the pituitary for its regulation while it is not in a state of pregnancy.
