When talking about universal history, reference is made to the compilation of the most important events that man has gone through from its origins to the present. It tries to explain in detail how these events unfolded and if there was any connection between them. In order to carry out a more didactic and easy-to-understand explanation, historians have divided universal history into four periods (Antiquity, Middle Ages, Modern Age and Contemporary Age).
Universal history has different methods of study, if for example a study is carried out regarding the life of a person, an investigation must be made about his life and the social environment where said person developed. On the other hand, if a historian carries out an investigation on the locality where he resides, he must collect important data about what happens in that place, in addition to having a much more open perspective of reality. Another variant of the study of history occurs when, for example, a researcher is in charge of studying a specific period of a certain country, the perspective must be broadened much more.
As mentioned above, universal history is divided into four periods, which are Antiquity, the Middle Ages, the Modern Age and the Contemporary Age, in this last period there is a stage that takes on great importance, this is the time known as the illustration, which was based on a current of intellectual and cultural type, another stage of great relevance was known as the Age of Enlightenment, whose fundamental characteristic was to fight for a better quality of life for people, ending superstitions, the tyranny and ignorance that clothed the civilization of the time, all this through the use of human reason.
