Ingratitude is a form of indifference and contempt. Such exaggerated egocentricity that it makes us forget those who benefited us, who were with us, who helped us. Ingratitude does not recognize the merit of others or the favors it receives, on the contrary, it ignores them. Ingratitude is a form of selfishness.
There is no single source of ingratitude. It can come from a rude attitude, an attitude of arrogance, a feeling of resentment or envy. Whatever their origin, ungrateful attitudes produce some frustration or even an emotional wound in the offended person.
Ingratitude can not only come from individuals, between parents and children, siblings, uncles and nephews or friends, among many other cases, but it can also come from society in general or the State itself, since when they do not receive decent pensions to those who have contributed to the system through many years of decent work, and are condemned to subsist on miserable sums in terms of having a pension; or when citizens are sent to fight for the country and then are not recognized, as happened in Argentina with the survivors of the Falklands War.
The person who is ungrateful can be even with the closest relatives and friends, in that case, he lacks enough empathy to put himself in the place of the other. Ingratitude also shows up in emotional dialogue devoid of key terms, such as thank you, sorry, and please.
An ungrateful person disappoints the other because with his attitude he hurts the good intentions of those who offered his help at some point. Just as love is a feeling that can be reciprocated or not, in the same way, gratitude is a feeling that can occur mutually between two people. This is the case, for example, when two friends who feel good together are grateful to be able to tell each other. However, ingratitude shows the lack of correspondence in this sentiment.
To thank is a verb that is sometimes forgotten. Along with respect, solidarity, collaboration, gratitude is a virtue, and respect, help, collaboration, and gratitude are verbs that must be conjugated daily.
