Anonim

Grafting is understood to be an artificial vegetative propagation method that is applied to plants, this occurs when a portion of tissue that has its origin in a plant that in this case would be the variety or graft itself, it is coupled on another already settled, in such a way that both organisms grow as one. These are used in most cases for the purpose of propagating woody vegetables for commercial use, be they fruit or ornamental. The graft is also characterized by allowing the growth of varieties of valuecommercial use in lands or circumstances that are unfavorable to them, which makes it possible to take advantage of the greater resistance of the species used or, failing that, to ensure that the productive characteristics of a specimen are not modified, with respect to the genetic dispersion introduced by sexual reproduction.

It is important to note that in the case of plant grafting it is a totally common method of artificial vegetative propagation of plants.

Through the years, the use of grafts has been implemented to favor the growth of varieties that have an outstanding value in world markets and thanks to this technique the risk that, for example, the species may fall into some disease caused by soil or other natural or artificial agents. Meanwhile, the procedure is produced in the following way: firstly, a portion of the tissue that corresponds to a certain plant, which would be the graft, is applied to another that is already settled, then both will grow as the same organism.

Something that must be taken into account before carrying out the process that involves a graft, is that the practice is only possible in those species that have some relationship between them since otherwise both tissue and vascular connection will not find the necessary relationship to ensure the survival of the organism.

In the case of odd chromosome numbered hybrids, which are sterile by nature, vegetative propagation is the only possible form of reproduction. However, grafting is used to unite more than one variety in the same pattern, thus obtaining a single specimen that produces fruits or flowers with various characteristics that can be diverse.
