What is insolence? »Its definition and meaning

Anonim

The word insolence is a term commonly used in our language and we use it when we want to account for the audacity, lack of respect or impudence that a person has towards others.

Boldness or lack of respect that someone shows in their behavior. The aforementioned behavior can be a regular part of the personality, or a person behaves in this way in a certain situation that causes exactly such reactions.

Insolent people are more numerous among children and young people, because their rebellion makes them tend to challenge limits and question the hierarchies and imposed social customs. Although the insolent are usually those who belittle and attack social conventions and other hurtful people, words and gestures, they can also accompany these expressions with physical attacks. Examples: "The insolent laughed as he sang the anthem of the country " or "youth group became insolent at school with their teacher."

The insolent is the one who lacks all restraint and with great courage and pride confronts other individuals and questions them, even when they are older, more authority or a higher hierarchical level. Insolence can also be directed at sacred objects or national symbols. Disrespect, ignorance of limits, boldness, and excessive pride often accompany insolent actions or expressions.

Although it is sometimes impossible to remain immobile or not respond to insolence, because each one's self-love leads to a natural and spontaneous response, we must try to control ourselves and, as far as possible, not react.

Violence always brings more violence.

Only education and an internal job in favor of not reacting to violent situations can reduce the violence that we see everywhere today.

There are several synonyms that are often used in relation to this concept, while, we highlight two of the most used for being: irreverence and daring.

An irreverence basically implies the lack of respect for someone, or something, for some action that greatly annoys or a saying that undoubtedly annoys.

And, on the other hand, daring means the audacity, recklessness and daring that someone presents in their performance.
