What is interface? »Its definition and meaning

Anonim

It is known as the user interface to the medium that allows a person to communicate with a machine. The interface, in this case, is made up of the contact points between a user and the computer. In addition to the mouse example mentioned, another such interface is the monitor screen or keyboard.

Therefore, it is a connection between two machines of any type, to which it provides a support for communication to different strata. It is possible to understand the interface as a space (the place where interaction and exchange take place), an instrument (as an extension of the human body, such as a mouse that allows interaction with a computer) or the surface (the object that provides A through its texture, shape or color).

When we use the term interface within the Internet sector, the web world, we would have to say that it is used to refer to the entire set of elements that are reflected on the screen and that allow the user to carry out various concrete actions.

Specifically, the interface will be made up, as well as action items, of alternatives in terms of navigation, identification and, of course, content.

In calculating the interface, it is nothing more than the physical and functional connection that is established between two devices, devices or systems that work independently of each other. In this sense, communication between a human being and a computer is done through an interface.

For computing, there are two types of basic interfaces: the physical interface, which consists of objects that allow us to enter data and manipulate the computer, such as the mouse or keyboard, which would function as prostheses or extensions of our body; And the graphical interface, also known as graphical user interface (GUI), which allows human beings to interact with the computer through a series of graphic elements (windows, icons, etc.).

User interface: means the means that a person uses to communicate with a machine, device or computer. They are generally user-friendly and intuitive, so they are easy for a user to understand and use. It contains elements such as windows, menus, mouse, keyboard, alert sounds, that is, all those channels through which an effective communication is established between human beings and machines.

Graphical user interface: also known as GUI (graphical user interface), it is known that the computer program that uses a set of images and objects in a graphical simulation environment represents all the actions available to the user in the interface. This system is called WYSIW (What you see is what you get, that is, "what you see is what you get").
