Anonim

The acronym ISO stands for the International Organization for Standardization; body responsible for regulating a set of standards for manufacturing, commerce and communication in all industries and businesses in the world. This term is also assigned to the standards set by the same body, to standardize production techniques in companies and international organizations.

This organization arose in 1947, after the end of the Second World War, becoming an entity dedicated to promoting the creation of international standards and regulations for the production of all products, except for those belonging to the area of electronics and electronics. electricity. In this way, quality is guaranteed in all products together with respect for environmental protection policies.

ISO is currently headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland and has delegations from various governments and other similar entities. However, despite its high influence level worldwide, compliance with these standards is voluntary, since the ISO has no power to enforce its regulations.

ISO standards cover different aspects of production and trade, some of them are: those that regulate paper measures (ISO 216), quality systems (ISO 9000, 9001 and 9004), environmental management (ISO 14000), the names of languages (ISO 639), among others. All these standards serve as a guide, which is why today their use is increasing and there is great interest from companies in them, since from an economic perspective they represent a reduction in cost, time and work.

The objective of these standards is to be able to standardize the production process of the products that are manufactured in each of the countries worldwide, in such a way that each one can be compared with each other.

For industries, being able to have an ISO certification allows them to show that they are complying with the provisions of contractual agreements, while for consumers this certification allows them to recognize which products or services meet the requirements and which ones they are the most reliable providers.
