Jean or jeans are a type of clothing, usually made of denim or dungaree fabric. Often the term "cowboy" was I refers to a particular style of pants called "blue jeans" which were invented by Jacob W. Davis in association with Levi Strauss & Co. in 1871 and patented by Jacob W. Davis and Levi Strauss on May 20, 1873. Before Levi Strauss's patented pants, the term "blue jeans" had long been in use for various garments (including pants, overalls, and coats), built with denim colored blue.
Originally designed for cowboys and miners, jeans became popular in the 1950s among adolescents, especially after the famous Hollywood movie, Grease or Vaseline, impose a fashion level global popularized and positioned jeans or jeans among all the youth and fans. Jeans were a common fashion item in the hippie subculture of the 1960s and continued to be popular in the youth subcultures of the 1970s and 80s of punk rock and heavy metal. Historic brands include Levi's, Lee, and Wrangler. Jeans are still a popular item in 2017fashion, and come in various fits, including skinny, tapered, slim, straight, boot cut, cigarette bottom, narrow bottom, bell bottom, low waist, anti-fit, and flare. "Distressed" jeans (visibly aged and worn, but still intact and functional) have become increasingly fashionable, making pre- sale "factory distressing" a common feature in commercially sold jeans.
In the 2017 years, jeans are a very popular item of casual dress all over the world. They come in many styles and colors. However, blue jeans are particularly identified with American culture, especially the old west. Also, although jeans are known as popular clothing items for several decades, they are still worn as protective clothing by some people, such as cattle ranchers and motorcyclists, due to their high durability compared to other common fabrics.
