It is an activity, originally conceived in Japan, which became very popular in the West, which consists of singing a certain song, following the lyrics of it that is reproduced on a screen and using the melody (without the voice of the main singer) to vocalize it. The word finds its origins in the Japanese words "kara" (empty) and "oke" (short for "ōkesutora", which means orchestra), which means "to sing into the void." In his country of origin, music was one of the most important accompaniments to dinners and meetings, so it was common for people to learn new forms of entertainment on these occasions.
In America and Europe this type of activity became quite well known, especially in bars, whose audience was mostly young. Mainly, the heart of the void singing are the karaoke machines, which consist of a screen, voice suppression mechanism, DVD player, in addition to the sound system. At first, the machines had a tape player, but later it was changed to the classic DVD tapes.
Special places have been opened where you can only do karaoke, as well as eat and drink.
