Wool is a material of natural origin, which can be obtained from various animals such as sheep, rabbits, llamas, alpacas, among others, this is done through a procedure known as shearing. Wool is widely used in the fabric industry, since from it it is possible to make various garments, such as sweaters, coats, blankets, gloves, socks, among others. In general, these types of garments are mostly used in low-temperature regions, since this material has the property of maintaining body heat and prevents the cold from penetrating to the skin, which is thanks to its animal origin.
Depending on the origin of wool, it can be very diverse, since its fibers can have great elasticity and resistance in some types, while in others not so much. Without a doubt, resistance and elasticity are the properties that stand out the most in wool, since thanks to them the fabrics made from it can better maintain their shape compared to other fabrics that are manufactured from other fibers of natural origin. It is for that reason that in the textile industry it is a widely used material and in turn valued, since in addition to the aforementioned properties, it also has the ability to absorb moisture and its high insulating capacity, not to mention that it is very light. The costof wool can be very diverse, since it depends on the size of the fiber and its fineness.
After the wool is extracted from the animal, it must be washed since it is soaked by the animal's tallow, it is usually shearing is done once a year, however there are regions where it can be done up to twice by year. The correct way to cut the wool is flush with the skin, at present mechanical clippers are used with which the complete piece of the animal can be removed and which is known as fleece.
