The launch (in physics) is the force that is applied to an object in order to propel it from one place to another, it needs human will for the implementation of the process, this reason makes it a word to the that can be referred to in sports terms.
The word release, has different definitions depending on the context for which it is used, an example of this is the term applied to the definitions relating to events in which the presentation of products, promotions, campaign, etc. they are preceded by the word “launch”, such as campaign launch, promotion launch, among others. This is why a launch can be defined, in the same way, to human action that manages to produce a change in a previous circumstance, causing a new situation.
Returning to the physical point of view, the launch has generated since ancient times the creation of different sports disciplines, which have been part of the well-known Olympic games. The games that use and need the application of this force for their process are:
Shot put or dumbbell, which is nothing more than an athletic event that consists of propelling a steel ball through the air to the greatest possible distance.
Javelin throw, this is another athletic event in which the athlete has to throw a javelin made of metal or fiberglass, in order to reach the greatest possible distance.
Discus throw, this athletics event aims to throw (through the air) a circular object in the shape of a disc, made of wood surrounded by metal, to a flat surface with a circular area of an angle of 35º 32 '.
Hammer throw, this is the last athletic event that is practiced in the Olympic games and that aims to throw an object called a hammer, which consists of a solid steel ball attached to a metal handle through a cable of steel, giving as the winner the athlete who manages to send it as far as possible.
