Machismo is considered a variant of sexism in which women are often discriminated against and belittled, since they are considered inferior to men. This ideology is based on preconceived doctrines and stereotypes, in addition to the great influence that the social environment has on it. One of his most ingrained thoughts is to believe that women should at all times manifest an attitude of submission towards men.
On the other hand, the manifestation of this ideology can be observed with different attitudes that men have towards women in general, such as, for example, the contempt towards them, as well as the need to control them, even sometimes, it can be manifested with aggressions of physical and psychological type resulting in what is currently known as gender violence.
In relation to some science such as anthropology and psychology, machismo is a topic that generates interest in specialists in these branches, since such behavior is a typical characteristic of patriarchal society, which is characterized by the fact that man is who exercises power especially over women in all senses, that is, not only in the family environment, but also in the economic, labor, social, etc.
Throughout many centuries, machismo has been reflected in various aspects within many cultures, sometimes directly and at other times in a slightly more subtle way so to speak. An example of this is the fact that women's right to vote was denied for a long time. Even in today's society it is possible to find signs of machismo, a clear example of how in certain countries of the Middle East adultery of women is still punished, the punishment of which is the death penalty, while men do not correspond a similar penalty.
Even today the woman's submission to her husband is often considered a positive value. There are even those who maintain the idea that a woman achieves her fullness the moment she marries and becomes a housewife to be aware of her home, children and husband.
