Marlin is a type of fish that is related to swordfish and sailfish, its fishing at the sea level is practiced to a greater extent for sport reasons and this is because it is positioned as one of the swimming fish that frequents the seas warm. Among their kinship they are confused with sailfish, since their only difference is the fin in the dorsal area of ​​the animal and the size; the bones of the nose and jaw of the marlin fish are elongated obtaining a shape similar to that of a sword with a rounded tip.

The maximum weight of a marlin fish is 630 kg, they have color variations in terms of the region where it is located, in this way the white marlin fish is found in the Atlantic Ocean, while the black marlin fish is common to find it in the Pacific Ocean; This species has sexual dimorphism, that is, a female species and a male species can be differentiated, the females being larger than the males, reaching a size of up to 4 meters in length. This fish is one of the most recognizable, especially the species located in the Pacific, Atlantic and also the Indian oceans; the marlin is characterized by having a pronounced blue color in the upper area, white or silver in the lower area, as well as a large dorsal fin and a lance-shaped jaw.

The marlin is integrating the group of fish that inhabit most of its existence in the deep sea, these are classified as "blue fish", they have migratory instinct since they move according to the ocean currents for several thousands of miles. There are some that have a greater affinity for the higher temperature found in surface waters, their main food is tuna and mackerel, although sometimes they swim deeper in search of squid, they use their spear-shaped beak to attack dense shoals of small fish as it swiftly and violently passes, then returns to eat any fish that have been injured or killed in the process.
