It is the life experience that a woman has at the time she becomes a mother. Motherhood encompasses a set of phenomena that develop in women, which go beyond a single discipline, that is, motherhood is not only the fact that biologically the process of reproduction occurs (giving birth), but represents the generation of a new human being, for which the integration of other dimensions is necessary.
In this sense, motherhood, although not universal, since not all women become mothers in the world by a personal decision, it also represents an instinct, which is present in most women, who identify themselves same with the figure of the mother.
This maternal instinct occurs not only in humans, but also in mammals that live the same reproduction process as humans and this is thanks to the influence of culture and the environment, which by nature itself, in the the way the facts happen, makes it happen
But in the case of human beings, it goes beyond nature itself, since throughout history it has made women synonymous with mother, although for psychology this is not the case.
In other words, the thought that being a mother completes a woman is something totally suggestive, received by cultural belief. So the fact that the woman is biologically prepared to be a mother does not mean that she should be. It is up to each woman to decide whether or not to be one, and if she chooses not to be, that does not take away or subtract any femininity.
On the other hand, for those who come to feel that desire to be mothers and finally materialize it, motherhood represents a change in their life, in which priorities as a person change in their entirety, having the responsibility of ensuring the welfare of the child that has come to the world, thanks to its procreation.
Also, there are women who live motherhood even if they do not go through the biological process of being one, an example of this when the person adopts a child. Although she does not give birth, she experiences all the changes in her thinking and in her lifestyle, like any other woman who had the opportunity or the desire to be a mother, complying with the biological process that leads her to be one.
Motherhood, in addition to representing being a mother, is directly linked to the values of love and protection.
