Veterinary medicine is the discipline that is responsible for preventing, diagnosing, treating and curing diseases that affect the health of animals, both domestic and wild or production. Those in charge of carrying out this work are called Veterinary Doctors or just Veterinarians.
Veterinary medicine, like human medicine, has a very long history in which animals are the protagonists, since they are the ones who have great difficulty in showing humans if they have any pain, this is the main reason in creation of veterinary medicine, in addition to the fact that animals are of great importance in human life. Thanks to technological advances, over the years, veterinary medicine has managed to strengthen itself and provide animals affected by any disease with the possibility of being cured in a faster and more effective way.
Also, the growing acceptance that animals have gained as pets for humans, such as; Dogs, cats, birds, rodents, among others, have contributed to the increase in the popularity of the discipline, since having a pet becomes another member of the family and when it becomes ill, the first option is veterinary doctors, which contributes to the growing request for medical consultations from them. In the same way, this discipline is also in charge of controlling the food and health centers in which the animals are treated, at the same time that they seek to prevent the spread of zoonosis, which is the contagion of any disease that an animal has to a human being, as well as they are in charge of studying and predicting the behavior of any animal in order to improve the performance of both animals and productive livestock.
On the other hand, veterinary medicine is closely in collaboration with human medicine, since it is responsible for studying animals that may be harmful to human health and creating all those vaccines that the human body needs in order to prevent diseases that can attack our species.
