This is known as an attitude that consists in appreciating very little life, property, or one's own or foreign rights. It consists of minus, which indicates reduction; and of appreciation that means to make an evaluation. In contempt there is and a value given to things is shown, but it is very scarce. If an estimate is not provided and it is rejected entirely, it will speak of contempt. Differentiation is based on intensity: contempt is deeper, it is directly denying appreciation.
We can look down on people and also things, of course, in the case of individuals, having feelings, the problem is usually much more unpleasant and complex, because, of course, their feelings are affected, while things are not. they feel they must. bear that weight, of course. Anyway, many times if there are owners of those things that are underestimated, the rejection and damage will not vary much and they feel that they are doing it for themselves, even if the contempt is not directed directly at them.
When someone is exposed to dangerous situations or does not take care of their health, it is said that they feel contempt for their own life and simply do not value it. When the environment in which we live is neglected, there is a disapproval of our habitat, and when people are used as means to ends, there is a disregard for the rights of others.
The most serious cases of contempt and, of course, contempt are those in which fundamental rights that make life and the physical and psychological integrity of oneself, others and the environment in which we live are involved.
Contempt leads to discrimination against the other who we believe is less than ourselves, and this can lead to segregation and even the extermination of certain sectors of the population, as has been demonstrated historically.
This term is also used or it can be used to undervalue the material things that are in the market, for example: "the price of the property was undermined by the economic crisis."
