The term Mycology comes from the combination of two words of Latin origin, "Mico", from "Fungus" and it has Greek roots which means "Fungi" and Lodge of "Logos" which is Study. So Mycology is the study of fungi in all their names, forms and origins. The fungi are parasitic organisms that form in tissues or decaying matter, its importance in nature is crucial, because the processes digestive and secreting enzymes, are able to absorb those chemicalsthat dead organisms produce some of these turning them into useful or edible vitamins or minerals for live animals.
One of the most common uses that is given to mycology in addition to studying the behavior of flora and fauna not yet explored or discovered, is to determine a catalog of fungi or mushrooms as they are also known to be edible or at least medically useful. One of the best known is the Champiñón, a whitish mushroom with which a dressing or flavor typical of Mediterranean gastronomy is obtained.
Many experts assure that Mycology is a branch of medicine in charge of studying and treating people or animals infected or contaminated with some type of fungus that is harmful to health and of using fungi as medicine, because the components of many fungi from nature have healing properties.
Specifically, Pharmaceutical Mycology is in charge of the comparative study of substances found in fungi, not only those that we know with this form of tree, but those that can be perceived through a microscope, example of these: those that are formed in a piece of decomposing meat, those that make up Mold and its variants.
At present, mycology is defined in the fields of technological research and development that take advantage of these properties of fungi to regenerate compounds or tissues or generate a cyclical system in which the fungus does its work. The food consistently performs studies and research to enlarge the Charter of restaurants exotic foods. Many mushrooms are also used as psychotropic substances, mycology is also in charge of this study.
