Microorganisms can be defined as a type of living beings of small size to the point that they are invisible to the human eye. These can be of different types, among the most important we can highlight algae, fungi, bacteria, etc. There are those who maintain the hypothesis that some microorganisms were the precursors of life on planet earth, while other somewhat more complicated assumptions affirm that these are of extraterrestrial origin and that at the time they expanded over the face of the planet and gave life to everything that is today. In general, it is very common that microorganisms are made up of a cell unique, however this does not mean that there are not those made up of more than one cell.
Driven by the need to confront diseases, the study of microorganisms had a great impulse, for this reason as medicine evolved in the same way knowledge regarding these living beings did.
Certain microorganisms are considered responsible for the detriment of certain foods, which can be harmful to those individuals who have consumed such foods, causing various diseases, despite this there are certain microorganisms that can contribute to different procedures, an example of this is the fermentation where said organisms are used in order to make foods such as yogurt or cheese, that is, there are microorganisms that can change the configuration of certain foods or even extend their life span.
The microorganisms that have the greatest presence in nature are bacteria, which can be found in different types of habitats, there are bacteria that can be harmful to human health, an example of this is " Escherichia coli ", a which is responsible for diseases such as septicemia. Despite this, there are other bacteria that can be beneficial for the body, an example is "Lactobacillus acidophilus" which has the ability to produce different substances such as vitamin K and hydrogen peroxide which can be of great help for the organism.
