Militia is a term that admits various meanings, however it is important to note that they are all related. On the one hand, it can be used to name the preparation for a war and the act of disciplining soldiers for it. This word comes from the Latin “militĭa” being one of the most frequent uses of this notion, which is linked to the union and organization of citizens for self-defense and the development of paramilitary activities. These people are united and organized for a specific objective, they do it of their own accord and are not obliged to remain in that group for a specific period of time.
The concept of militia can refer to the profession and military service, the official reserve army of the State. Those who make up a militia are called militiamen and are dedicated to tasks such as defense of a region or nation, correct application of emergency or paramilitary laws.of services at times when they are required. Currently there are some militias that were born as a form of resistance, an example of this, those that emerged as a result of a military coup.
