Misogyny is defined as the hatred or dislike that a person can feel for the female gender. While it is true that this attitude is typical of men, there are cases where women feel hatred of the same gender. This attitude of rejection towards women dates back to ancient times, almost from the moment when the first societies began to be created.
The person who manifests this behavior is called a misogyny or misogynist. A misogynist, in addition to hating women, tends to criticize and belittle their role in society. This stance is still very common in countries like the Middle East.
It is worth highlighting the differentiation that exists between the term machismo and misogyny; macho men do not hate women, they simply want to exercise control over them, since they consider them inferior to them. Machismo considers women, only to provide sexual pleasure, to reproduce, and to carry out housework, for nothing else. On the other hand, in misogyny there is the absolute absence of the female figure in man's life.
According to studies, it is thought that misogyny can be caused by trauma at an early age, caused by a female figure in their environment; for example, a very severe mother, an abusive sister, a very strict teacher. All these traumas can trigger feelings in the child that will affect him in his future.
The first signs that identify a misogynist may not be noticed at first, however, with the passage of time they will manifest. Misogynists will take any opportunity to show their disagreement towards women, whether it be through teasing, rudeness, slights. When they are in front of a woman they tend to be self-centered, vulgar, and very competitive.
Misogyny is a problem, which believe it or not, is still very present not only in Eastern societies, but also in Western societies. The mistreatment of women is punishable by law, however, in practice, women still receive contempt, abuse and mistreatment from men
